  • Pelosi (S522)
    Designed in the 1980s as "hunter killers" to contrast the underwater threat of the Soviet bloc, the Sauro-Class conventional submarines have undergone significant upgrades and technical-operational improvements both in their project phase and during their service life to meet the operational commitments of the new millennium.
  • Gazzana (S525)
    The Sauro-Class submarine (S525), is the second ITN boat named after World War II heroic submarine commander Gianfranco Gazzana Priaroggia; the first ITN boat to bear this name was the ex USA USS Volador oceanic submarine. Submarine Gianfranco Gazzana Priaroggia is the second of a pair of boats making up the Sauro Class IV Series. Built at the Fincantieri Shipyard in Monfalcone, the vessel employs innovative construction concepts and technologies.
  • Todaro (S526)
    The "Todaro"-class submarines are new cutting-edge underwater units operating in the Italian Navy. The first vessel, Salvatore Todaro, entered into service on March 29, 2006 after intensive sea trials. The second boat of this class, Sciré, entered into service on February 19, 2007. Two additional Type 212A vessels were ordered in 2008 and are scheduled to be delivered to the Italian Navy in 2015 and 2016.

  • Romeo Romei (S529)
    The submarine is named after the World War II heroic (gold medal for military valor) submarine Commander Romeo Romei (already awarded with two Bronze Medals for military valor), Commanding Officer of the Submarine Pier Capponi, sunk on march, 31 1941. Laid down on September 09, 2010, the vessel was launched on July 06, 2015 christened by Mrs. Nicoletta Romei daughter of the Hero, and commissioned on May 11, 2017.
  • Longobardo (S524)
    The Sauro-Class submarine S524, is the second ITN boat named after submarine commander and World War II Gold Medal Primo Longobardo; the first ITN boat bearing this name was the ex USA USS Pickerel oceanic submarine in commission in the Italian Navy from 1972 to 1981.
  • Prini (S523)
    Built at the Monfalcone Shipyard, the Sauro-class III Series submarine Giuliano Prini (S 523) was laid down on July 30, 1987, launched on December 12, the same year, commissioned in the Italian Navy on May 17, 1989.
