The ultra-light aircraft developed by BlackShape has taken off from the flight deck of aircraft carrier Cavour to fly over South Africa. It is innovative, revolutionary and, most of all, Italian; it is one of the top products promoted by the 30th Naval Group in the Campaign “A Moving Country.”

Brainchild of an engineer and a lawyer, Luciano Belviso and Angelo Petrosillo – both from Puglia and in their 30’s – and paid with a 25,000 Euros regional fund allocated in 2011. In two years it has sold 60 pieces in over 20 countries around the world, including South Africa. “BlackShape employs around 70 people working in a 4 thousand square meters plant, and it is growing. Among our customers: Europe, US, and Australia, but also private wealthy businessmen from northern Europe, enthralled by the qualities and potential of this product.”

Testimonial of this historical event was Commander Gian Battista Molteni, one of the first ITN pilots to fly a Harrier, who has racked up more than 5,000 flying hours and graduated experimental pilot at the U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School  (USAF TPS) in Patuxent River, Maryland
