The origins of the Naval Aviation date back to early last century, when a group of brave pioneers with a vision began to employ aircraft to support the Naval Squadron.

In 1913 Admiral Paolo Thaon di Revel established the “Servizio Aeronautico della Regia Marina” (Italian Royal Navy Aircraft Service); later the same year the Aviation Training School and an Air Fleet were also established. This is the reason why 1913 is considered the birth date of the Naval Aviation in Italy.
