ITS Maestrale was in Trieste from last November 1 to 5; on the occasion of her last naval campaign the unit has hosted a number of events.
On Monday 2, the unit hosted the Conference: “The Italian Navy, an opportunity for enterprises,” with the participation of Admiral Roberto Camerini, commanding officer of the Comando Marittimo Nord. The following day the crew met the first division water polo team Pallanuoto Trieste and the artistic gymnastics team Artistica 81.

Tuesday was characterized by the presentation of the book: “Nazario Sauro, storia di un marinaio” to the students from local schools. Also there was a very touchy Flag Down ceremony on the occasion of the celebrations for the Unification of Italy and our Armed Forces.

During her stop at the port, many schools and private citizens have visited the frigate, participated in seminars on World War I and enjoyed a photographic exhibition on the history of our Navy hosted in the hangar. A large number of people expressed their interest in the event, especially on November 3, when over 1,500 people queued to be able to get onboard our unit.

In Trieste too, ITS Maestrale did not miss the opportunity to stress her civic commitment represented by her partnership with Fondazione Telethon; it was possible to purchase charity chocolate hearts and IT Navy Calendar 2016. Last but not least, while in Trieste, the unit made a sea trip for the benefit of some local students.
After Trieste, ITS Maestrale is in Venice, where she can be visited until next November 9.
