Martinengo frigate trains with the Royal Navy of Oman

On 1st December 2018, ITS Federico Martinengo took part in a joint training exercise with patrol vessel Al Shamik Q40 of the Royal Navy of Oman, at the end of her port call at Salalah (Oman).

The activity was part of the European Union Anti-Piracy Operation "Atalanta".

The joint exercise allowed the crews to conduct training in kinematic maneuvers, flashing light drills, and exchange of personnel with smaller naval vessels.

The event confirmed the interoperability of the Italian Navy with the Royal Navy of Oman. Training in key to ensure readiness and maintain intervention capabilities at sea. Maintaining crew training standards has always been of utmost importance for the Italian Naval Fleet.

The activity carried out by ITS Martinengo represents an opportunity for international exchange, source of valuable lessons and stimulus to foster mutual professional relationships among participants, emphasizing the importance of the Italian Navy’s presence in the Indian Ocean and in the Gulf of Aden.
