The Sagittario isone of the classic wooden yachts that form part of the Italian Navy Sailing Department. In the course of the year she takes part in vintage sails rallies, although he main use is the cadets training.

The yacht has been designed by the renowned  naval architect  Carlo Sciarelli  for the Italian Navy and built in record time in 1970 – in just 78 days – at the Craglietto Shipyards.  She is one of the yachts racing in the Sciarrelli Cup, a regatta named after her famous designer.

The yacht has raced with Captain Franco Faggioni in the 1972 edition of the O.S.T.A.R.(Original Singlehanded Transatlantic Race),coming 7th in 59 entries (third among the monohulls).

In the 80’s she participated in several Middle Sea Race editions, winning the 1980 and 1981 editions, while in the 90’s she stood out at the Barcolana, Trieste, with Admiral Agostino Straulino. In 2009, with the Cadets of the Morosini Navy School, Venice, she won the Città di Trieste Trophy and the Barcolana Classic in her category.

Her lightness, her detached submerged appendages, together with her over all length make her a fearful opponent.
