Italian Carrier Strike Group stops in Muscat

Aircraft carrier Cavour and frigate Alpino, made a port visit at the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, from 8 to 10 October, as part of their first operational campaign to the Indo-Pacific.
During the port call, Ambassador Pierluigi D'Elia highlighted the multifaceted relations between Italy and Oman, while Mariavittoria Rava presented the projects carried out by Fondazione Francesca Rava to implement effective actions to protect children and their families from emergencies, thus contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.
Thanks to the strong cooperation and collaboration ties between the Navies, before leaving Omani waters, aircraft carrier Cavour and frigate Alpino were engaged in an exercise with units of the Royal Omanite Navy.
Training activities were conducted to enhance interoperability, readiness and operational capabilities, while strengthening relations.
An opportunity for naval forces to effectively develop the skills needed to jointly address any threats that may endanger security and freedom of navigation.
