The crews from the patrollers under the command of the Patrolling Forces for Surveillance and Coastal Defense, based in Augusta, are called to intervene in case of marine pollution.

The military units, equipped with helicopters, are able to perform all necessary procedures aiming at the control and removal of oil spills, thus preventing it to reach the coast and minimizing its impact with the marine ecosystem.

This is possible thanks to the equipment onboard and the long tried cooperation with the org. structures of the Ministry of Environment and Territory, and the Civil Protection Department.
